I just came upon this (get it, up-on). Scoff, scoff. Whatever, it's super cute, don't judge me- just watch it. I'm a big fan. I have no clue that they're saying. I hope it's in a foreign language otherwise I'm turning into my mother and I think it all music sounds like they're singing in foreign. Personally I like to think they're singing in Irish. Carl sounds like he's rapping "Go raibh maith agat" , so you're welcome Carl and you're awesome. Or as we say here in Eire, Ta tu go maith, agus an bhfuil cead agam dul go dti an leithreas.

Check out this lovely spot from Irish advertising talent, Rotcho, created for 98Fm. Sweet spot and some lovely art direction. For such a lovely idea and execution above the line it's a pity they let there below the line and digital work fall into a checklist. Twitter, check. Facebook, check. Web banners, check. Given that their campaign is about embracing the moment ('Now is good') wouldn't an online site set up to encourage others to submit their own experience of embracing the moment be engagement and interactive. Just a thought. Lovely campaign though. Jealous.com

The Kool kids

I had to blog this post, not because I'm getting broody and desperate to reproduce (although how cool would a nappy wearing samba dancing clockwork orange milk drinking boy be?) But because I've finally found out where my boyfriend has got his moves from. It was an epiphany, and I have to admit, slight relief to know that he's not been having some form of minor convulsions. As you can probably tell his moves aren't as well received as this tots, though credit where its due, they are equally as funny. The other difference is that rather than recording it with pride to share with the world I tend to back away slowly and deny all knowledge of our relationship. Good times. Good times.

How I remember American Advertising...

I remember watching advertisements and infomercials* in the states and wondering how the hell these people sold anything! Medication infomercials, in particular, really amazed me. How anyone could swallow even a headache tablet upon learning side effects of possible death, spontaneous combustion and/or immediate blindness** fascinates me. I love this spoof Family Guy version of typical American Sale commercials. Those guy's are geniuses. It always has me in stitches. This ad for 'wacky waving inflatable tube arm flailing tubeman' is fan-fricking-tastic. Enjoy.

Being awesome

Just wanted to let all the peeps out there know that I’ve read this book and I am now awesome. Fact. I've had the market cornered on ‘cool’ for awhile, but I’ve been trying to figure out how to break into ‘awesome’ - who knew all you had to do was practice! Of course having some hip threads, questionable hair cut and some multi-cultural companions won't go a miss either. Right on dudes. Peace out.

Stuff no one told me, but I learned anyway

I love these fun illustrations from the wonderful spanish illustrator Alex Noriega. He adds a new thought everyday to his blog. I highly recommend checking him out. Included are examples of three of my favourites but there's loads of other little gems in there. You'll love too.

Gregory Crewdson, photographer extraordinaire

I bloody love Gregory Crewdson's photography. It's an art directors dream, the attention to detail makes me salivate. I love the stories they tell, the poignancy and longing each shot delivers and the dream like vision he evokes. I love the light, the filmic approach, the surreal moods he creates from everyday scenes. Best of all I love the intrigue he creates from every image, like an incomplete sentence. I love it all. I've just bought his latest book Twilight. Perhaps one day I'll have my very own print.

Fab app

If you're like me and have 20 million windows open and 15 thousand tabs on each of those windows then you'll find this app fab. http://www.instapaper.com/ A simple tool to save web pages for reading later. A 'read later' button is installed into your window and from there you can save any website for... reading later. It's brill and like most useful things it's also available in an iphone app. You can sync it with your kindle and better yet you can share your reading to do list with others. Now all I have to do is actually get round to reading them.

Etsy regretsy

This site makes me laugh out loud. For all your etsy regretsies there is now a place to pubish your shame. I've some especially dodgy online purchases hidden away under the bed. Me and my lovely Mum cannot turn down a bargain. I think it's actually genetic. I could definately publish to the ebay equivilant of regretsy. Here a link to my latest purchase which I actually still quiet like but my sister told me "it's the worst looking thing I've ever seen on you. You look like you spend your evening's consulting the oracle and making potions". It might be a future regret.

LOVE, Love, love it.

Definately the ad of the year, in my opinion, soooo so AWESOME! Samsung Electronic, "The 3D truth in old masters". Genius use of VO from the Mighty Boosh's Rich Fulcher. Unfortunately I can't embed the ad so I only have a quick screen grab. See the full ad here. So worth a look. I wish I could credit the piece but unfortunately I can't find any details on that either. Bravo to the team behind it anyhow.

Aardman Animations have recently launched a new, self-funded short film programme to showcase the talents of its directors and the first two films have been released. Fly is directed by Alan Short. Click here to see the second film.

Looking into the past

The Museum of London has launched a free iPhone app which brings its extensive art and photographic collections as well as geo tagging and Google Maps to guide users around London where, via the iPhone screen, various historical images of the city appear - just like in the image above. You can look into the past of the London, and explore the hidden history of London that surrounds you. This idea may have been inspired by the Flickr group, Looking into the Past .  Via: Likecool Check out The Museum of Londons site for more info.

A totally frivolous fashion post (yet again) but such a wonderfully perfect summer ensembles and the imminent realease of SATC 2, I couldn't not. I need Vanessa Hudgens dress, shoes, accessories (hair, body, face). The dress is georgette mini from Tibi incase you've an extra 380euro laying around. SJP's beautiful yellow frock is Valention if you please. It'll set you back 5,0000euros*

So you need a typeface.

Find yourself using inappropriate amounts of helvetica and futura due to lack of any real type education and an irrational fear of not looking cool among more design savvy peers. Well default no longer, Julian Hansen has created a font info-graphic to answer all our font dilemmas. A sigh of relief for all those who reflected on their past design ventures and wondered what the hell you were doing with papyrus.

Cannes Dah-ing

So Cannes film festival was this weekend. I've been checking out the fabulous dresses and style online. Oh to be rich and famous. I've done a little montage of four of my favourites here. I'd imagine wearing one of these little number on my weekly trip to Aldi or Lidl. Where else! I particularly love the dusty pink dress (top left) of course being a mere mortal I have a feeling I'd have more than a passing resemblance to a giant walking talking marshmallow in it. I guess I'll never know. 

I just stumbled across these beautiful images from the 2006 Skywalkers project in Miami by Fwy Studios. What a fun project that must have been to have witnessed/ photographed/ been involved in. 

I love when artists cut right through to the truth of the matter, and Laurel Varian hasn’t put a foot wrong in outing all the popular themes on Etsy! This illustration is called “It’s Etsy”. I'd suggest some twee cats added to the wallpaper pattern. It also reminds me of the pringles logo. It's fun.
